while I was taking pics of her new diaper.... she was trying to eat the tag of her nursing pillow. She is fascinated with tags and will attempt to taste every single one within reach

Back to basics

This week I ventured into the "old-fashioned" prefold diaper world and let me tell you that even these aren't what they used to back in the day... they are shaped the same and you use them like they did 30 years ago but boy, oh boy, are they soft... made out of super soft bamboo fleece and embellished with a cute print, make me wish my undies were made out of the same materials.
That weird yellow thing holding it together is called a "Snappi"... it's what we use now instead of pins although there still are some "pin-lovers" around these days. I have no interest in pins so I gave Snappi's a try. I gotta tell you though, it took me a while to figure it out but now I feel like a pro. It keeps the diaper on really tight and doesn't fall off.

Maja has a little "spot" on her gums... upper right. This is so exciting... I check everyday and thankfully she is very patient and lets me.

I meant to blog about it and I forgot... she was siting in her BebePod and I came over to pick her and she reached up!!

Sleeping

I think we may have a growth spurt on our hands or possibly teeth because our little angel has been going to sleep at 4:30-5pm.... she goes down for what we think is a nap and then just continues into the evening and then night. She will eventually wake up soaking wet because she doesn't have an overnight diaper on, and starving because she didn't get to eat much before going down. But after a quick nursing session, dry diaper and clean PJ's she goes right back down. That usually happens around 10-11pm and then she is up again to eat once around 4am and sleeps till 7am!

So 5pm to 7am!!!! at first we were worried she would just shift her nights and want to be up at 4:30-5am but no... she sleeps till 7am so we decided to do nothing about it... She has behaved similarly around her 3 months growth spurt so we are sure this is just temporary, but wow... most parents tend to have the opposite problem so we consider ourself extremely lucky.

Where did my "sleeping-through-the-night" baby go??

Maja has been waking up a few times per night lately. Some times she wants to eat, others just the pacifier and some other times she just talks to herself for a few minutes and goes back to sleep.
I can't even bring her to bed with me anymore because she has learned Daddy is on the other side so she wants to play with him.

I hope it's temporary although if it's not, I'm just thankful we had 5 months of great sleep :)

Just a little something to think about

Swimming Pool

We finally made it to the pool for the first time today and it was a success. Maja is a great little fishy... she love swimming on her back and I even put her under water. She came out without swallowing or choking on water and no crying either. Yay!
She did get really cold quickly so we cut it short. Next time we will take Daddy with us so he can take some photos :)

A little PSA

Many of you, wonderful family members and friends, have been sending Maja some adorable outfits. We wanted to thank you all for your thoughtfulness but we need to point out that our little girl is not so little anymore... even though she is only 5 months old she doesn't fit in anything 6-9 months and some of the 9 months are getting too small. Please keep that in mind since we'd love for her to enjoy these wonderful gifts!

Big changes

Maja outgrew her infant carseat so we bought her a new one.. I think she likes it:

5 months old today!!

Time is flying by... our little girl is not so little anymore. Just today I decided to sort through her closet and came across the 9 months outfits waiting to be put out... well... she doesn't fit in most of them!!!!!

Here are 5 new things about our favorite girl:

1. She loves to sing... really... you start singing to her toy piano and she will follow!

2. She is so good at standing... sure she has less balance then a drunken sailor but she can hold herself straight up.

3. "Upside down inchworm"... have you ever seen an inchworm move?? that's exactly what Maja does, except she is on her back. You leave her on the floor in one place and all of the sudden she is across the room!

4. Still exclusively breastfeeding and going strong. Her new thing to do is to push me away with one arm and pulling away with her head all while still latched. Talk about ouch! I'm not looking forward to teeth!

5. We broke in the highchair and turns out she LOVES sitting up at the table with us, although she is starting to freak Daddy out a little. She stares at him the entire time he's eating with her mouth open and barely blinking. It's hilarious to watch
