Maja's new ride

We went to the Zoo today

It was Maja's first time but it was too windy and a little chilly so she ended up getting tired of it quickly. That's ok though... it looked like a great Zoo and I'm looking forward to going back.

Here are a couple of pictures of us feeding the giraffe... how cool?

Pinto update

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone and sorry for the late update. The last week has been quite crazy and Maja and Jeff being sick didn't help.

Anyway, it looks like we have put our scare behind us and are moving forward. Hopefully this was a one-time thing but from talking to some other Moms with this experience, it's possible for it to happen again. We will see...

On the bright side, I'm almost positive I felt Pinto move around. Not yet ready to officially call it but I'm sure I will soon :). It wasn't until 16 weeks when I first felt Maja but it was just a few times before I started to feel her kick regularly at around 18-19 weeks. They say it happens sooner the second time around so it may just be it.

IT IS OFFICIAL!!!

Maja has been "talking" for a few weeks now. The usual "mamadadanana" type of crap. Today at about 11:32 we got our first "I know what I am saying" type of word. I stayed home from work (still feeling sick), so when Aga went to take a shower, I got to have a little Daddy time with Maja. So we practiced walking around, and played with toys for a bit until she decided that it was time for me to carry her. To be quite honest she was kinda fussy for some reason, so I took her to the mirror. This usually solves everything as she LOVES looking at reflections. Well today she got giggly (as usual), then in a very clear and concise voice, looked at me and grinned and said

"Dada".

WAHHHOOOOOO!!!!!!

I mean, dude, that was no babbly string of syllables that she says just because I say it 500 times in a row to her every day (I do). This was her actually labeling me as "Dada" and judging by the smile on her face, thats a pretty cool thing in her head. Greatest sick day ever.

Sick baby

Maja has Daddy's cold. She just woke up screaming because she was so congested she couldn't breathe. Poor, poor girl... it breaks my heart seeing her like this. Hopefully the rest of the night goes by fast :(

and just because, here's a photo I'm liking a lot. Aren't those eyes to die for?

Is she turning into a tummy sleeper?

She spent most of last night on her belly which is incredibly weird because she hates tummy time with all her might. In fact, over the last couple of days, there have been random times she rolled herself over while napping and woke up screaming.

I guess she must have been too tired to care last night.

A post from Daddy

Being a Daddy is fricken awesome!!! Maja is probably the happiest baby I have ever seen, which makes my job that much more fun. I just feel like there is so much for her to learn and I really hope I can be enough for her. Pinto has been doing its part to give me a bit more gray hair. One day you are watching him doing acrobatics inside Aga's belly and the next you are taking your buddies car from work and doubling the speed limit to get to the hospital. So far so good, but I will be glad once the doctor can tell us that all is well. Well, wish us the best...That is all

Pinto update

Tomorrow marks 12 weeks and little Pinto is already a trouble maker.

So far I've only lost weight which isn't terrible but I only have a few more lbs to go before the Dr starts getting worried since there is no apparent reason why I shouldn't be gaining. The nausea went away a couple of weeks ago and I've been eating much better lately, plus I cut down at least half of our nursing sessions. At least that makes me feel more open to possibly gaining another 50 lbs.

Our worst scare came today when I started bleeding quite a bit. It about gave me a heart attack when the blood started gushing out (light spotting would be normal). The Dr checked me out immediately and even though he didn't find a cause, he thought everything was ok but I'm supposed to check back with the office tomorrow if things don't get better. I'm just taking it easy and pretty much spent the day laying on the couch or in bed... just in case.

Now onto the good stuff!

We had our 1st Trimester Screening done yesterday which is a test that identifies the risk for abnormalities like Trisomies 21, 18 and 13. The results could take several days but we are expecting good news.
Part of the screening includes an ultrasound so we got to take a very good look at Pinto. He (until I'm proven otherwise, I will refer to Pinto as a "he") was pretty uncooperative which just meant the ultrasound had to be quite long and we got some really cool pictures while waiting for him to get in the right position. It's amazing how baby-like he already is, at only about 5 cm. I'll scan the pics as soon as I get a chance.
The heart beat is way faster then Maja's.... she used to hover around 142 bpm and Pinto is already up to 162 bpm. Don't bother looking at the gender predictors based on that... according to those, Maja should have been a boy!

I think that's about all we have on Pinto right now

Holy mother of all blowouts!

I didn't even bother trying to save that shirt!

She has pooped several times in the last couple of days and they were fairly small but oh my gosh this is the worst I've seen in a long time. Yuck!

A day of firsts

Maja can now roll from back to belly!! It took her a while cause she hates belly time and I have a feeling we won't be seeing much of this rolling but hey... she finally did it!

This deserves its own post

As of today Maja can clap!!! It's so amazing to watch her learn all this new stuff. She concentrates so much trying to do it. It's adorable

Back from the pedi

I guess we just have some sort of wonder child on our hands who does not need to poop. She is not backed up and he just suggested giving more fiber but otherwise there is nothing we need to do. It's been 2 and a half weeks so hopefully this doesn't last much longer.

So, it looks like we have another Poop Watch on our hands.

I wonder what the Guinness Book of Records has to say about this, haha...

On another hand, she is a whooping 19 lbs already!

So, what's new?

Sorry about being MIA but I'll try to catch up on everything soon :)

Let's see... Maja has another tooth coming in (#3, top right-her right) and she is doing really good with table food. We have given her meat and her new favorite is mac&cheese. She has also bitten me a few times while nursing- lovely!

Speaking of breastfeeding, we have introduced formula this month after noticing her getting really hungry even though she got plenty of nursing sessions. I guess the quality of my milk is not as good as it was before I got pregnant. So anyway, we started mixing some formula in her bottles when she turned 8 months and now she is able to take the formula straight up. I was worried she may not like it but she seems fine with it.
I've kept our nighttime nursing sessions and an occasional daytime one. She does seem to enjoy the connection and so do I... I really cherish those moments and I'm really sad our breastfeeding days may soon be over :(.

The formula did seem to have one side effect and it is the lack of pooping again. See, with breastfeeding that's really not an issue but once you start solids and formula that shouldn't be happening. She doesn't seem to be bothered by it but we will be seeing her pediatrician today to check it up. We tried prunes and prune juice and still nothing. Hopefully we will have a giant messy diaper on our hands (she has had little "farts" here and there but they don't count)

What else? She is still waking up a few times per night but goes right back down as soon as she nurses a bit. Lately her wake-up time has been moving up and now she is ready to play at 6am but that's ok... she still goes down at 7pm or even earlier. And since we are using bottles now, Daddy has been able to play a more active part in bedtime which he really enjoys.
Aside her wakings, she is actually great about sleep. She goes down all by herself still which is really nice but I have to admit I wish she needed some "cuddles" more often.

All right she is up from her nap so I gotta go... I'll see if I have some pics to post soon :)

Pinto update

We have a heartbeat! Strong and healthy, just like it should be. We will see the little squirt in two weeks when we have our next ultrasound.

Oh, and I lost 2 lbs! I'm liking this nausea thing :). I know, I know, not exactly what should be happening but given I gained 50 with Maja but only lost 46 I figure it's just my body evening out, right???

Maja thinks the props are fun to play with :)

There are a few she can literally spend 15 minutes looking through

Tooth #2

It broke through next to the other one. She loves feeling them with her tongue!

EDIT: She is actually taking teething quite well. We haven't noticed any major changes in her behavior so that's good. Hopefully it stays that way.

I caught the bug

the "I have a girl and need to dress her up" bug!

We went out today in search of a decent Easter dress since most of Maja's wardrobe is made out of pants and oh my gosh I couldn't resist and we ended up bringing about 6 home. To be fair, only two are for Easter, the other's for this summer, but boy are the Easter one's cute... I couldn't decide so I bought them both so I could try them on her. They are puffy and girly, and I even accessorized! She will be wearing a bolero style cardigan and of course a matching headband :).. couldn't find cute shoes but I will before we meet the Easter Bunny this weekend.

I'll post pics tomorrow... still trying to decide which one to keep.

All this for just one picture... I smell trouble in the future!

More random pics

I don't think I've ever shared these so here you go :)

She is just too darn cute

8 @ 8

Normally, this is where I would write 8 things about Maja at this age but since I just made a post about what's new and the recent lack of pictures I decided to shake things up a bit... Here are 8 photos from Maja's 8th month :)
