It was a fun morning, Maja really enjoyed herself and there were lots of other babies her age... I'm very glad we signed up. The teacher is just "nutty" enough without being incredibly annoying for the adults (cause believe, some of the teachers out there are a bit over the top)
Maja did somersaults, back flips and handstands and she also made friends with a little girl named Lily :)
It will be a fun thing to do on Saturdays!

Sadie 2.0
Some of you may remember our pup Sadie... she was a sweet little thing but had the creepiest of habits. Every time she got a toy with eyes on it she'd chew them right off!! Maybe she hated them "looking" at her?? who knows but she did that to every toy.
Well this morning I caught Maja trying something similar with her doll... she kept trying to grab the eyes and was starting to get a little frustrated when she couldn't get them. Weird kid!!

It figures!
The one day that Maja is awake able to make it to the library for Book Babies, the session is canceled. Ugh!
I was so excited because normally she takes a morning nap around the time BB starts and today she got up early. What a disappointment to find the library closed!... so instead we decided to check out the cute little shops in downtown De Pere. We found the most awesome little toy store where I bought a stacker/shape sorter and a new ball. And then we stopped by a children's clothing store and what do you know, they were having a sale so of course I couldn't pass that up. I think that may be my favorite new store right now... so many cute things but luckily for my wallet, Maja started getting hungry and tired so we had to keep it short.
Oh, and we also signed up for a preview class at The Little Gym. Yay!!! I can't wait for Maja to start going. It's such a fun place and the instructors seemed really nice. I hope she enjoys her time there.

This one is for Grandma and Grandpa
Old video, from right after Christmas but here she is enjoying their gift to her :)
Signing time
I've been lucky enough to witness the awesome results of signing with your baby when nannying other kids so we are doing that with Maja.
I try to sign anything I know as we speak to her and we are starting to see it work. Jeff saw it first.... she signed "nurse" as we were getting ready for bed, she was upset because she wanted to nurse and I was asking her if she wanted to do that.
A couple of days later I caught it too and since then, I saw it one more time.
It's so cool knowing that there's a way for her to communicate with us before she is able to speak.
For the skeptical out there, signing does not delay speech in any way :). Children do not get "lazy" and choose to sign over speech. In fact, especially if you're raising a bilingual child, it helps having the same sign for a word that is spoken differently depending on which language you use.
If you're considering it, check out signingtime.com. Those DVDs are great. You can also find lots of picture books with the majority of the basics signs at any book store that has a Children's Section.
We don't have any since I know enough signs for now but I've used the DVDs and several books to learn in the past.

Oh, how I miss those days....
when she'd only poop once every two weeks. She seems to be making up for lost time now plus for whatever reason, doing it in the middle of the night has become the norm :(
Barely awake Mommy + wiggly baby + dirty diaper = disaster!

I'm not doing that again!
Yesterday I changed Maja's sheets and decided to keep the bumper out since it's such a hassle having to take it out for changes and it's too hard doing it with it in place.
Well... that backfired! Last night when she woke up she realized it was fun to bang her pacifier on the rails so she did that for about half an hour squealing with joy. That was at 11pm... she did it again at 4am! Plus she lost two of them through the openings (I keep a bunch in, so I don't have to look for them in the dark)
Live and learn right?? The bumper is back on and staying put!

Guess what?
I went to get Maja up this morning and as soon as she saw me, she started going "mamamamama"!! How exciting! It almost made me cry.
Now, I know, I know... it was probably just a coincidence but thinking she meant it makes me feel much better so I'm sticking to that story :). Plus... she has been saying "dadadada" for a while so it was about time my turn came.
