Guess who is walking???

And she is so freaking happy about it (we are too, of course). She has great balance so she has been standing on her own for a while and now is able to take several steps before she plops back down. She does need help getting up but I'm sure she will figure that out soon.

Go Maja!!

She sure has some Polish in her all right

She is enjoying her first "kabanos" (a type of thin, dry sausage) and loving it!! Not one bit has fallen of the table into the "Kosmo pile"

Pinto update

24 weeks!!!

Everything is great and it makes me feel a bit better that we reached the viability stage. Pinto has a fighting chance should anything happen and he comes earlier then expected.

We are enjoying the belly getting bigger by the day. I was just looking at pictures with Maja and I def. have a bigger belly even though I'm actually lighter then I was with her at this point. So far I've gained 11 lbs total... with Maja I gained 11 lbs just between week 20 and 24!!

It looks like we are getting closer to naming this kiddo. Nothing final yet but we are down to a couple of names per gender. Hopefully we decide before he is here and no, we will not be sharing so don't ask :).

Wow, has it really been this long? part deux

Maja is her usual adorable self. Each month we say "this is my favorite stage ever" and somehow she manages to become even cuter than that.

Lately she has been on a "Daddy rocks" kick which he is loving. She has even started saying "Dadd-Y" instead of her usual "Dada". I let her play with my phone during the day and when I say "call Daddy", she picks it up and puts it by her ear. It's all about Daddy :).

It's amazing how smart they are at this age. She loves to put the rings on her little stacker and is now trying to build towers out of her box blocks.
Today she started throwing a ball for the first time. She used to roll it before but today she spent about 20 minutes just throwing and picking it up and throwing it again. She thought that was the coolest thing ever.

And just because it's due, here's our little fruit addict enjoying cheeries and cheese

Sleeping

I think we are officially on the sleeping-through-the-night train again. Occasionally she will wake up once in the early am and need a bottle but for the most part she sleeps through.
The only problem is now that she tends to wake up earlier... so I'm working on getting her to sleep in a bit more. It's not a huge deal since she normally is asleep by 7:30 pm so she does get a good night but it's nice for Mommy and Daddy to get a few extra hours if we can :)

Ever since her nights took a bad turn a couple of months ago, we started rocking her to sleep so that's another thing we are trying to help her with. We don't let her cry which is why we began to rock her but now that nights are so good it's time to get back to her falling asleep on her own. So far it's going great and we are now able to lay her in the crib and she falls asleep holding on to our hands. It's the most precious thing ever... she cuddles up to it, sticks her booty up in the air and drifts off.

Hopefully we continue going in the right direction.

The end of breastfeeding

Maja hasn't nursed since the day she turned 11 months and I'm a little sad about it but she seems to be handling it well. We were down to only one session in the morning when I brought her to bed with us so for the first few days I made sure I didn't bring her in. On saturday though I did and the first thing she did was try lifting up my shirt and got really upset when I didn't let her :(. Good thing we had a formula bottle on hand.

I have learned a few things from my mistakes and next time around I won't go as fast through my freezer stash and if supplementing with formula is needed again, I'll start at nights before I drop any of the daytime sessions.

11 months is quite a long time so even though we stopped sooner then I originally hoped for, I'm happy I was able to overcome the issues in the beginning and make it this far.

At least now I won't continue freaking Jeff out with the possibility of nursing both kids.

Chocolate face

See.... she doesn't seem to be impressed by chocolate

Bear walking

Last weekend Maja decided that crawling on the grass isn't comfortable anymore and started doing this:

11 things @ 11 months

Happy 11 months Maja!!!

1. Maja has turned into a very independent and social baby. She ventures out on her own and barely turns to check if I'm still in sight. She loves people and waves to everyone that walks by,

2. Tooth #7 is in. Lower left

3. She is cruising all over the place and has gotten really fast too... she pretty much runs but she won't take any steps on her own yet. She does stand on her own but needs to hold on to one of her walkers to move. She loves to push them around but needs to work on her turning... she gets stuck everywhere :)

4. She is a mad climber. Lately she has been trying to climb on the couch and is a pro going up the stairs. Now we just need to work on how to get down from places that isn't going head first

5. We gave her some chocolate to try and she is not a big fan. She did enjoy licking the brownie batter from the spoon but every sip of chocolate milk ended up on her shirt :(

6. Fruit is by far her most favorite thing to eat. She doesn't seem to discriminate anything... even watermelon which I have to sneak in to her because Daddy can't stand seeing or smelling it.

7. We have a bit of a bully on our hands. Recently she has been smacking her little friends but we are working on "gentle"... I think she is starting to get it and will show me "gentle" if I ask her.

8. She loves water but HATES when it's cold. To play outside, we have to fill her hippo with warm tap water and if we take her to the non-heated pool at the YMCA poor girl will shiver and turn purple within minutes :(. It takes her a while to warm up and feel comfortable if she does at all.

9. Her favorite song is still "The wheels on the bus" and she can do the wheels go round and round, the doors open and shut and the lights blink.

10. She can sign "water" and "more"

11. The Mommyaitis stage seems to be coming to an end. Daddy has been able to do bedtime a few times and she gets super excited to see him in the morning. Every morning I bring her to bed with me to nurse and play and she now looks for Daddy on the other side... that's the first thing she does when I lay her down.

Poor strawberry didn't stand a chance...

Maja and Heatley

Heatley's family had us over for dinner recently and as you can tell, the kiddos had lots of fun

Maja and Heatley

Wow! has it been this long???

10 days since last update... sorry :(

We haven't really been up to much... the weather got really hot lately so we've been enjoying real summer. Here are some pics of Maja getting cool in the pool

Can you tell who is boss?

This dog will let Maja do anything to him. All he wants in exchange is lick her once or twice... she is not fond of that though... just like her Mama.

Pinto update

We are still on team Green! but as far as I'm concerned Pinto is still a "he"

Everything looked great and we have some cute pictures to share. Pinto is about 13 oz right now and looks more like a monkey (Maja looked like a little baby alien). The little booger is very active and stubborn. He refused to get in the right position to check out his spine and when the tech pushed the wand down to see if that would make him move, he'd just give me a huge kick on the other end and remain uncooperative. Eventually though we tricked him into turning over :)

Up until now our awesome Doctor has been seeing me weekly just so I could listen to the heartbeat and reassure myself everything is all right but now that I can feel stronger and more often kicks, I think I can handle a longer wait until week 24.

20 week bump and ultrasound pics to follow...

She is a genius!

but that's old news, right?

Every night before bedtime Jeff and I ask Maja to say "Night, night to Daddy" and lately she has been saying "ni, ni" back but the other night she did the whole "ni, ni Dada". I'm not kidding! How cool?

She also started to walk around with her walker and doesn't need to be held anymore... soon enough she will be running around the house.

Mama's new toy

My new lens arrived today so we went outside to try it...
